Michael RamsdenArtists StatementReturning to this beautiful coastline after more than 30 years is, of course, fascinating on so many levels. What strikes me are the changes and the similarities. The topography, the geology and the architecture are, I suppose, the main features that have caught my eye. Michael Ramsden : CV Michael lived and worked in Germany for ten years. The two major exhibitions held during this period are: 1994 - Samlung Stöber Kutsche Haus, Berlin, ‘Elemente’ 1992 - Television Tower, Alexander Platz, Berlin, ‘Vertigo’ Public Commission: 1986-87 commissioned by the Parliament House Construction Authority for Mitchell, Giurgola and Thorpe Architects, to produce a major artwork for the New Parliament House in Canberra. He collaborated with Graham Oldroyd. Collections: The National Gallery of Victoria and the New South Wales Gallery, private collections in Australia, United Kingdom, United States of America, Italy & Germany. Significant moments: His trip with Michael Andrews into Central Australia; particularly the conversations around the campfire at Katajuta where they’d been given special permission to camp overnight. His return to Australia, where he now lives in the bush and paints. |
